Daniel Donato (born in Nashville in 1995) is a guitarist, singer, and bandleader who came up the hard way, playing for tips on the sidewalks of Lower Broadway as a teenager before earning a chair in the house band at Robert's Western World. He leads Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country, a touring band that has become one of the busiest and best-loved acts in the modern jam scene.
Two things make him stand out. First, the playing: he is a Telecaster virtuoso steeped in the chicken-picking language of Nashville, fast and fluid and deeply rooted in tradition. Second, the vision: he calls his music Cosmic Country, a philosophy as much as a genre, that welds classic country songcraft to the long, exploratory improvisation of psychedelic rock.

The Story
Donato's rise is a Nashville apprenticeship story, a young player who learned in public, on the bandstand and the street, then built something entirely his own out of the tradition he absorbed.

Busking on Broadway
As a young teenager, Donato learned by playing for tips on the Nashville sidewalks and by wearing out instructional videos, absorbing the vocabulary of country lead guitar note by note.
2013–2016
The Don Kelley Band
He earned the coveted lead-guitar seat in Don Kelley's band at Robert's Western World, the honky-tonk boot camp that has launched a long line of Telecaster hotshots, and cut his teeth six nights a week.
2017–2019
Striking out solo
Stepping out on his own, Donato began writing and releasing his own songs, including the Starlight EP, and started shaping the idea he would come to call Cosmic Country.
2020
A Young Man's Country
His debut full-length arrived, a confident set of originals produced with veteran guitarist Robben Ford that introduced Donato as a songwriter, not just a picker.
2021
Cosmic Country and the road
With Cosmic Country & Western Songs and constant touring, the band leaned fully into long-form improvisation, winning over the jam audience one marathon show at a time.
2023
Reflector
His most ambitious studio statement, Reflector broadened the palette with pop hooks, psychedelia, and polish while keeping the country core, and pushed the band to bigger stages.
