Doechii (born Jaylah Ji'mya Hickmon in Tampa, Florida, in 1998) is one of the most electric rappers of her generation, an artist who moves between hard-nosed lyricism, sung hooks, theater-kid showmanship, and left-field production without ever settling into one lane. She calls herself the Swamp Princess, a nod to the Florida wetlands she grew up around and to the wild, untamed quality of her music.
